1st Trophy + £300. Trophies for 2nd and 3rd places, medals for all finalists
A minimum of three couples dancing a choreographed routine to between 3 and 6 minutes of their chosen music. All dance styles are permitted but routine must include a minimum of 20% modern jive.
Rules
The Team Cabaret Category gives dancers the opportunity to dance. A team (three individuals or more, either sex), and choreograph their own routine to a piece of music of their choice.
Any reports of plagiarism may result in disqualification.
Teams are expected to dance their own choreographed routine. Britroc Ltd’s definition of this is - A Team can use any dance moves but they must be in their own original arrangement.
20 % must be recognizable as Modern Jive
Judging will be based on a points system. Points will be awarded for style, musical interpretation, presentation and technique.
Your team routine must be between three to six minutes. The maximum time of six minutes must not be exceeded. Your six minutes will start from the first movement or sound of your routine. If you exceed six minutes of allocated time your team will be disqualified.
Should you require any time to set your scene you will have one minute before your routine starts and one minute to clear the floor after your routine has finished. Please make sure that you inform our crew if you require this time when booking your Spotlight.
Please note that Britroc Ltd staff will not be able to assist you with your scene-setting and dismantling.
Team Cabaret is open to anyone 12 years and over.
A copy of your music on CD must be supplied to Britroc Ltd no later than 10 days prior to the competition
Judging Criteria
To help you get the most out of the competition the details below indicate what the judges are looking for and how you will be scored on your performance.
Costume & Presentation
Have the couple made an effort to dress up for the competition? Is there good interaction between the couple? Are they smiling? Do they look like they are having fun?
Marks available = 1 - 3
Musicality, Interpretation
Are the couple dancing to the style of the music? Are the moves they are doing in keeping with the rhythm and character of the music? Are the couples just dancing or are they performing the moves? Does the personality of the couple show through the moves they are dancing?
Marks available = 1 - 5
Technique
Is the move/s technically correct? Are the moves performed with good pattern and direction? Are they using the floor well? Are they considerate to others on the floor? Is there a clear lead and follow?

Variety, Complexity
Is there a good variation of moves? Is the difficulty and complexity of the move relevant to the category the dancers have entered? Are the moves executed correctly? Do the moves flow?

Scoring
Each couple, trio and team will be marked individually. Not against the people you are dancing next to in your heat.
All the scores are entered into the computer and the competitors with the highest scores will be put through to the next round.
Dependent upon the number of judges the maximum score each competitor will vary. However the maximum number of points awarded to an entrant from any one judge is 18 points.
All scores will be recorded and any competitor can contact Britroc Ltd to find out how they did. They can also request feed back from the judges after the competition has ended.
